Comfi has recently paired up with Woodwrights. They are a second generation New Zealand family business located in Motueka and they have recently opened a stunning retail space in Grey Lynn, Auckland. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you have stepped inside a sanctuary. Muted colours, incredible local craftmanship and quality you can literally feel without having to touch a single thing. We are thrilled to be a part of this beautiful business and one of our Comfi mattresses's has been used to showcase their Ava Headboard and Reed bed frame. A dreamy combination if we can say so ourselves. We spoke with Lucy Gordon, Brand Manager for Woodwrights to find out more.
Can you tell us about who Woodwrights is and the history behind the brand?
A second generation family-business, we have a rich history in furniture design and manufacturing right here in Motueka, New Zealand. Each Woodwrights piece is crafted with passion in our own full-scale timber and upholstery factories in New Zealand.
You have some great stories about the people and craftsmanship of Woodwrights, can you let us know more?
We take a lot of pride in being able to manufacture our furniture here in New Zealand, and are fortunate to work with talented and passionate artisans. We have third generation artisans, a team member of 23yrs and a father and son in our team.
How would you describe your showroom for those who may not have visited it yet?
We like to describe our showroom as a space that is both welcoming and immersive, a space that visitors are invited to spend time in. The showroom has been shaped with the support of our design partners and collaborators, a quietly neutral space, with furniture that can be explored and made uniquely yours with the support of our team.
Why did you choose to partner with Comfi?
Comfi was a natural collaboration for our showroom bed setting, with their New Zealand–made mattresses grounded in social and environmental purpose, aligning with our own values of thoughtful craft. Together, the pairing creates a space that feels both intentional and restful.
For a first-time visitor to your stunning Auckland showroom, what should they notice about the Reed bed base, Ava headboard and Comfi mattress?
The Comfi mattress provides a grounded and comfortable foundation for our bedroom display in the showroom. Our Ava headboard is upholstered in a beautifully textured fabric from Atelier Textiles, while the Reed bed base appears to float effortlessly off the ground.
