Thread Design are an iconic New Zealand brand who have been in the bedding and homeware industry for 23 years. So who better to ask than the powerhouses behind the company than Sarah and Katie what their top 5 pieces of advice would be to create the ultimate bedroom sanctuary.
1. Colour
For your duvet/quilt (top of the bed) It is important to choose a colour that encourages relaxation and helps promote a restful and serene sleeping space. We love using sage, ocean and natural for these reasons as they are soft colours and not overwhelming or overstimulating.
2. Natural Fibres
Use Natural fibres like cotton, linen, wool, and bamboo as they are highly breathable. This means they allow air to circulate more freely, which helps regulate body temperature throughout the night. This breathability can prevent overheating and sweating, creating a more comfortable sleep environment. Natural fibres efficiently wick away moisture, helping to keep you dry and comfortable.
3. Make your bed every day
Make your bed every day ! Starting your day with a completed task, even something as simple as making your bed, sets a positive tone for the rest of the day. It gives you a sense of accomplishment and reinforces a good habit. A tidy bedroom can positively impact your mental state. The act of making your bed provides a sense of control and order, which can reduce stress and anxiety. A well-organized space promotes mental clarity and a more relaxed state of mind.
4. Bedroom temperature
The temperature of your bedroom plays a crucial role in your overall sleep quality and well-being. The temperature of your room should be around 17 – 18 degrees. This will help you fall asleep easily and stay asleep throughout the night, it also reduces night sweats and insomnia and encourages relaxation.
5. A clutter free room A clutter free room is important as it is easier to feel relaxed and content in the space, it can also positively impact your mood and mental clarity. A clutter-free room is easier to clean and maintain. Without piles of items collecting dust, it’s simpler to keep surfaces clean and free from allergens. This leads to better air quality and a healthier environment, reducing the risk of respiratory issues and allergies.
